A mythological god similar to Eros or Amor/Cupid, Dragobete is the son of Dochia, and the god of youth, love and good-humor. He was a handsome and loving man, whom the Dacians believed to be a cosmic godfather, who at the beginning of every spring officiated at the weddings of all the animals in the sky. Then he would wed human beings as well. This is why, on Dragobete, the boys and girls would meet in order for their love to last forever, like that of the birds – the messengers of gods – which get engaged on the same day.
The outcome of the parliamentary elections of this winter was not meant to surprise: as expected, the main winning parties were almost equal, the Democratic-Liberal Party (PDL) and the coalition PSD-PC (Social Democratic Party and Conservative Party), with 33-34% of the votes, followed by the National Liberal Party (PNL), with approximately 18%. Besides these parties, the only group which crossed the threshold for representation in Parliament is the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), with 6.5% of the votes, but, following negotiations between the major parties, did not become part of the new government, which was formed only of representatives of PDL and PSD-PC. The end of winter is approaching, although even March can sometimes be surprising. But regardless of the weather, spring is already floating in the air and, with the regeneration of nature that this loved season brings, our hearts are ready for a new beginning as well. Love must not, however, be new to be beautiful: some of us are falling in love now; others have been in love for years, and others… for a life time. Whether old or new, in February love gives all of us a new impulse.
The show is part of a tour to promote the artist’s most recent project, “Songs from the Labyrinth”, recorded with the famous Bosnian musician Edin Karamazov, a true master of lute and a former student of Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache. “Songs from the Labyrinth” is a tribute to the great Elizabethan composer John Dowland (1563-1626) discovered by Sting at the beginning of the 80’. Launched in 2006, the album has sold over one million copies so far, succeeding from the first days, and going straight to the top of musical charts around the world, remaining number one on the Billboard chart for no less than fifteen consecutive weeks. The event took place at Diverta shop on Magheru Boulevard. Secrete de Chef – Ca la carte speaks about chefs who prepared banquets for presidents such as Bill Clinton, for stars like Bruce Springsteen, for sheiks, princes, kings and of course for ordinary people. Besides the 25 exceptional portraits, the book presents the favourite recipes of the cooks. Every chef prepared two recipes to share with the public, along with his secrets from the kitchen.
